Title: Associate/Full Professor in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and Associate/Full Entomologist in the Agricultural Experiment Station. This is an academic year (9 month) tenured position.
The appointee will be required to organize and present undergraduate and graduate courses in her/his area of specialization and contribute to other courses in the departmental teaching programs as assigned by the department chair. Supervision of graduate students, involvement in curricular development, and performance of University and professional service are expected.
Incumbent upon the appointee to the Endowed Chair is the expectation of providing leadership across the diverse range of systematics research on campus. The Endowed Chair will be expected to maintain a comprehensive research program in the systematics of any group of insects or terrestrial arthropods. The appointee is also expected to conduct mission-oriented research and outreach of relevance to the California Agricultural Experiment Station. The appointee will also be designated as a curator in the Bohart Museum of Entomology.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in the biological sciences, demonstrated leadership in modern insect or terrestrial arthropod systematics, with training and experience appropriate to the maintenance of a comprehensive research program. Examples of fields considered appropriate include revisionary taxonomy, phylogenetics, biogeography, biodiversity and comparative biology. Demonstrated experience in molecular systematics and field-based research is required. Familiarity with natural history collections and their development is desirable.
Salary: Commensurate with experience within the Associate/Full Professorial ranks at the University of California.
