Job Description top
As seen in the 23 December issue of Science:
FACULTY POSITIONS in Biochemical Engineering. The University of North Texas (UNT) has embarked on a multiyear university initiative to hire new faculty and make major infrastructure improvements to enhance and expand research (website:http://research.unt.edu/clusters/). UNT seeks candidates at the ASSOCIATE or FULL PROFESSOR level with active research programs in the Bio-based Production of Industrial Chemicals. Expertise is sought in the biosynthesis and/or scale-up production of industrially relevant chemicals in crops or microbial systems. Research programs will focus on metabolic pathway engineering of high-value chemical feedstocks, fatty acids, and/or polymers. The successful candidates must have a doctoral degree in a Life Science-related or Biochemical Engineering-related Discipline, an active research program in Biochemical Genetics with an emphasis in bio-based production of industrial chemicals, and evidence of a consistent track record in obtaining extramural funding and producing high-impact scholarship. This will be the first of six new hires with a thematic research focus in Metabolic Biochemistry and Engineering. This group is expected to build on investments at UNT in two other research initiatives- "Plant Signaling Mechanisms" and "Renewable Bioproducts" -- already targeted by the UNT administration for research cluster support. UNT is the fourth largest university in Texas, with about 36,000 students in 97 Bachelor's, 88 Master's, and 40 doctoral degree programs. All applicants must apply online at website:https://facultyjobs.unt.edu. For questions, contact Kent Chapman, Search Committee Chair, e-mail: chapman@unt.edu. Review of applications is under way, and will continue until the search is closed. UNT is an Affirmative Action/ADA/Equal Opportunity Employer.
