The Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University invites applications for the Mary Derrickson McCurdy Visiting Scholar at the Marine Laboratory in Beaufort, North Carolina. The Nicholas School focuses on leadership in research, education, and service to understand basic Earth and environmental processes, to understand human behavior related to the environment, and to inform society about the conservation and enhancement of the environment and its natural resources for future generations. We seek a scientist of outstanding reputation or promise in the field of Biological Ocean Science, broadly construed. The McCurdy Scholar carries an appointment as Visiting Research Professor at the level appropriate to the incumbent. The successful candidate is expected to engage fully in the intellectual life of the Marine Laboratory, including research, teaching, and mentoring. The term of the appointment is for nine months (preferably the academic year), with the possibility of expansion to one full year.
