Summary of Position
The Cedars-Sinai Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center, under the direction of Stephan Targan, MD, is recruiting two (2) post-doctoral researchers, with focused interest and training in Mucosal Immunobiology. Post doctoral researchers will perform directed human and animal model research projects, devising experimental protocols and processes. Experience in some or all of the following desired: Protein preparation/SDS-PAGE/Western blot analysis; RNA preparation/Northern blots; cell culture; mammalian cell transfection, culture and plasmid DNA preparation; basic molecular biology-restriction enzyme digests, subcloning, PCR; ELISA; preparation of samples for flow cytometry.
Responsibilities include researching scientific literature; compiling and analyzing data; developing figures from data; and writing manuscripts for publication. Maintain regular and accurate project records, order lab supplies. Cooperate fully with IBD laboratory personnel in lab maintenance, procedures, protocols, and attend lab meetings.
Education and Experience
We require an MD or PhD in a scientific field with a Doctoral degree from an accredited university in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, etc. or a Medical degree. Must have a clear understanding of research objectives in the area of mucosal immunology with the aptitude to perform detailed data collection and analysis, and to maintain specialized equipment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to learn and master new techniques, and work productively with minimal supervision.
