Cellular/Molecular Physiologist

In pursuit of this commitment, the Department of Biological Sciences at Arkansas State University (http://biology.astate.edu/) is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor. The successful applicant will be expected to teach Human Structure and Function courses, and to design course(s) in Molecular Biology and/or Cell Physiology. Additionally, a productive and funded research program involving both undergraduate and graduate students (MS and PhD) is expected.
Ph.D. required. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to effectively balance quality teaching and research.
The Department of Biological Sciences has about 500 undergraduate majors and 60 graduate students with 18 full time faculty. PhD programs are offered through the Graduate Programs in Molecular Biosciences and Environmental Sciences. State-of-the-art research support facilities and instrumentation, facilitating molecular and cellular research at the interface of agriculture and medicine, are available at the 88,000 sq. ft. Arkansas Biosciences Institute. Specialized facilities include mammalian cell culture and small animal facilities, plant transformation and propagation suites, and advanced microscopy and analytical facilities.
Arkansas State University is a public, multi-campus system offering associate, baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees to over 15,000 students. The main campus in Jonesboro enrolls over 11,000 students, employs over 450 faculty, and is comprised of 10 colleges. Jonesboro, a city of 65,000 in northeast Arkansas, is a regional center and home to multinational Fortune 500 companies. Memphis, TN is 65 miles to the southeast, and Little Rock, the state capital, is 130 miles to the southwest.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
