Location: Carlsbad, CA (San Diego County)
Position: Sr. Manager, M&A / IT Strategy

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced professional to support our IT M&A development, strategic planning and implementation efforts at LIFE. Reporting to the Senior Director of IT M&A/IT Chief of Staff (Strategy), the position is responsible for the IT activities of mergers and acquisitions from valuation and due diligence through full business integration. This individual will provide strong leadership in facilitating the development and implementation of the IT M&A plan; and will play a critical role providing focused analysis of high priority strategic IT issues and business opportunities. He/she will generate clear goal oriented work plans, structure problem solving approaches and develop robust analyses and business cases that will drive high quality IT decision-making. The individual will establish and work closely with multidisciplinary project teams from across the Company.

In support of the Chief of Staff area, the position will facilitate the tracking of the IT Department's budgets, the 100 Day plan, IT staffing, Operational Reviews, Department Communications and other operational matters. This individual will also be involved in the formulation of the IT Department's annual Strategic Reviews as well as tactical plans.
He/she will quickly develop a good understanding of the technology and markets of the Company. He/she will have the ability to formulate high quality, insightful, fact based and practical assessment of IT opportunities and strategic choices.

Responsibilities:
Areas of specific responsibility for this person will include the following:
Partner with the Senior Director of IT M&A in defining and implementing the long-term IT strategy. Specific activities include:
· Actively participate in the entire due diligence process, and understand strategic goals of the business merger/acquisition/divestiture. Present the IT findings and recommendations to the executive team
· Partner with integrated business/IT teams from LIFE and the acquired company to develop the IT integration goals and objectives to ensure that IT needs and priorities are met. Monitor progress of integration.
· Evaluate IT readiness across workstreams.
· Support origination and evaluation of acquisition or joint ventures (from the IT perspective)
· Analyze deal opportunities from strategic, operational and IT aspects
· Assist in driving and realizing IT synergies and one-time cost estimates
· Support deal execution process – due diligence, reporting etc.
· Manage projects as needed
· Organize and place operating mechanisms which enable Senior IT Leadership Team to effectively manage priorities, budget, time sensitive deliverables, and personnel.
Nature and Scope:
Position exercises judgment within broadly defined IT practices and policies. Influences the activities of multiple IT projects and personnel. Acts as advisor to all levels of employees to meet schedules and/or resolve problems. Job encounters diverse work situations involving a high degree of complexity.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
· 4-8 years experience in the IT field with a background in M&A, business / corporate development, strategy consulting, investment banking, venture capital, strategic marketing or other relevant experience
· Advanced degree in IT/Engineering and MBA preferred
· Ideal candidate will have experience in life science or biotech business environment
· A demonstrated track record in analyzing complex strategic issues and defining executable business cases and plans; able to integrate best practices
· Solid research, analytical, critical thinking and creative problem solving skills - Must be quantitative and detail oriented with strong modeling skills
· Strong partnering and consulting skills; owns the process and guides others to focus. Enables business and IT leaders to own decisions.
· Results orientation. Strong initiative, accountability, and willingness to take ownership and drive projects to completion. Must have the ability to show good judgment and act quickly/decisively (even with limited information or in an ambiguous environment).
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills - ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences and groups (both internally and externally).
· Strong team work and facilitation skills; able to facilitate diverse groups to think outside the box and synthesize concepts into vision and coalesced business strategies and plans
· Uncompromising integrity
Contacts:
Has contact with all levels of national and international staff (particularly in the IT function) as well as interaction with other integration managers and team members including HR and Finance. May serve as a team leader and team member on several cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions:
Works in a fast paced office environment where required turnaround on projects, results and analyses is quick and customer service is superior. Ability to travel is required.
