Alma College seeks a full time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor, to begin Fall Term 2010 to contribute to the development of our emerging multidisciplinary Integrated Health Program. Departmental affiliation will reflect experience and research strengths; joint appointments are possible.

The successful candidate's research program must include health-related projects utilizing modern plant molecular techniques and show promise of collaboration with other faculty. Teaching responsibilities will include medicinal botany, plant physiology and upper-level elective courses that may include plant pathology or plant biochemistry, as well as participation in entry-level departmental offerings. Candidates should be committed to undergraduate liberal arts education, to active pursuit of scholarship, and to institutional service. Full-time teaching load is six courses per year; salary, benefits, and support for professional development are competitive.

A Ph.D. or equivalent is required for appointment; postdoctoral experience is preferred. Alma College has recently established an academic partnership in Ecuador; therefore, individuals who are knowledgeable of Latin American plant biodiversity and who have Spanish proficiency are especially encouraged to apply.
