The George Washington University Medical Center has a new non-tenured track position available for 3-5 years. The position is offered from the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Tropical Medicine as well as the Department of Pathology at the Medical School. The position is intended to recruit junior faculty who are in between their post doc and tenure track positions. The focus of the position is to do basic science research on any/all aspects of HIV/AIDS biology and its role in HIV-associated malignancies. This includes research on viral entry, RT, integration, transcription, splicing, packaging and release. The George Washington University Medical Center houses a new HIV/AIDS Institute with members having research interests ranging from basic science all the way to epidemiology and policy, who are actively pursuing research related to HIV/AIDS, both locally and nationally. Therefore the potential for growth and collaboration with other disciplines is available. Preference will be given to those who have strong CVs and show a commitment of performing basic research and therapeutics. The chosen individual will be expected to demonstrate a high level of productivity as measured by submission of several grant proposals and manuscripts each year. It is expected that this individual will obtain independent funding as principal investigator in three to five years and be a candidate for transitioning into a tenure track position. Salary and benefits are competitive for the Washington D.C. area. The position start date is September 1st, 2009.
