Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for a Senior Scientific Editor (Job Number 17087).

The Senior Scientific Editor in the Scientific Editing Department edits and rewrites clinical or research material for submission by St. Jude authors to granting agencies and biomedical or scientific journals; educates faculty members regarding publishing practices and writing techniques; trains editorial staff as requested by the Director of Scientific Editing, and may supervise the activities of the department in the absence of or as delegated by the Director. The Editor prepares materials for the Scientific Report and Pediatric Rounds and performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years relevant experience, including work on peer-reviewed journals, and editing, rewriting, or writing of journal articles and grant applications is required, or
  • Master's degree 5 years experience is required, including work on peer-reviewed journals, and editing, rewriting, or writing of journal articles and grant applications is required, or
  • Ph.D degree and 3 years experience is required, including work on peer-reviewed journals, and editing, rewriting, or writing of journal articles and grant applications is required
  • Experience in the design of clinical trials, clinical trial protocols, or in publishing would be an asset
  • ELS (Editor in the Life Sciences) certification is preferred
