The Institute of Sea Fisheries of the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institut (vTI), Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries invites applications for a permanent position as
Scientist/Senior Scientist in fisheries economics bio-economic modelling
with the option to lead the newly established fishery economics group at the Institute.
The Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institut (vTI) is a German federal research institute under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. It was created on January 1st, 2008 from the German Federal Research Centre for Fisheries, the German Federal Research Centre for Forestry and Forest Products and part of the German Federal Agricultural Research Centre. As one of 15 vTI Institutes the Institute of Sea fisheries is committed to provide sound scientific support for the rational management of living marine resources and marine ecosystems to the benefit of future generations, and to secure a sustainable basis for the sea fishing industry.
The Institute seeks to strengthen its modelling expertise in different aspects of fishery science, i.e. bio-physical coupling, bio-economics, multi-species modelling, spatial modelling. The fisheries economics group will comprise three permanent scientist positions and is expected to play a central role in linking the different aspects in the Institute. Now, we seek a highly qualified bio-economic modeller to com-plement the economic expertise capable to interface with our population and ecosystem dynamics group.
