The Virginia Commonwealth (VCU) University School of Medicine invites nominations and applications for the position of CHAIR, DEPARTMENT of NEUROLOGY. The Department is one of 17 clinical departments in the VCU Health System. There are currently 20 full-time faculty, 22 residents and six fellows who provide a comprehensive array of clinical inpatient and ambulatory services in adult and pediatric neurology in modern facilities with over 1,200 admissions annually. Strengths include extensive collaboration with the Southeastern Parkinson Disease Research and Clinical Center at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center, and a strong neuroscience community on campus with faculty representing a broad range of excellence in both clinical and basic research. The Department wishes to expand with a major focus in the area of movement disorders.



The Chair will be responsible for setting departmental goals in administrative, teaching, service, and research activities. The successful candidate will have demonstrated academic administrative experience and a national reputation as a scholar and educator, be committed to excellence in patient care and qualify for a tenured appointment at the rank of PROFESSOR. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment with persons of all races, genders, and ethnicities. The Chair will report to the Dean, School of Medicine.
