Wayne State University School of Medicine seeks applications and nominations for the position of Chairperson for the Department of Physiology. WSU provides an exciting, dynamic, urban research environment with excellent facilities and is rated in the top third of all U.S. research institutions, offering 350 academic programs through 14 schools and colleges to more than 34,000 students in metropolitan Detroit.
The department has significant strengths and external funding in cardiovascular, cellular/molecular, neural, endocrine, renal and respiratory physiology.
The Chairperson shall develop a vision to lead the Department of Physiology in research and education and must have the skills to achieve this vision. The successful applicant will hold a PhD or MD degree and have a well established, externally funded research program in an area of interest to the department, as well as proven leadership experience(s) in administration, education and team work building.
